I'd like to take this blog to introduce you to Nicolas Lemieux. The newest member of the team is settling into a sizzling hot summer at Aasman Brand Communications. With a background of 10 years in business and design we're tickled to have him on board as an Account Manager. To round out our knowledge of Nicolas, let's ask him a few questions:
How long have you been in the Yukon?
I initially came on a road trip across the Rockies, I would say around two months by now... With the summer midnight sun it is hard to say ;-) The aurora borealis is now starting—nights and days should be easier to define!
What are your first impressions?
Wild, grandiose but accessible. Perfect for someone hooked into outdoors and wilderness! Adventures, opportunities on water and mountains seem endless... Whitehorse has its own charm with nice cafes, bars and restaurants. Its location on the Yukon River, between mountains, makes it possible to go for a canoe or mountain bike ride from downtown. A perfect mix of city services and outdoors in your backyard!
What were you doing before coming to work with us?
I worked mostly as a freelancer with various clients on various projects as creative director, art director, graphic designer, project manager and copywriter. I also co-own a guiding company in Quebec in the fall and spring season.
What's the best trait you bring to your work here at Aasman?
Always aiming for the best. Creating emotion.
What are the best tunes to work with?
It is always changing, but for now, I listen mostly to folk, rock, indie and punk rock music. I like things with energy, melody and distortion (edge). Sometimes electronic is great for design. It can be very good to change the beat sometimes on a project to give you a different view and new inspiration.
Favourite kind of ball—like basketball or rum balls or...?
Microphone cap. It's all about creativity, energy and passion.
Preferred flavour of chip?
Nachos + salsa + beer = a classic.
What a unique hobby you have?
Can't pick one! Music, photography, travel, hiking, canoeing, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, hunting, and fly fishing are the main ones. I like to try new things, but pretty much everything linked to outdoors, discovery and creativity...
