Truth be told, we didn't exactly do that... but the new media buyer and administrative assistant at Aasman Brand Communications does have a degree in psychology. Welcome Krysten Johnson! With yet another fresh new face it feels like spring instead of autumn in the aasman office. We've bid a fond farewell for now to Jennifer Wiebe, who's on maternity leave. Krysten is left with big shoes to fill, but after her first week I get the sense she'll fit right in. Let's ask her the important questions.
How long have you been in the Yukon?
I moved up last February from Calgary. It should be noted that I also drove up in the middle of winter, during whiteout conditions at approximately 40 km per hour. It was a little nerve-wracking to say the least...
What were your first impressions?
The first time I came to the Yukon, I spent a week fishing out at Frances Lake. I was blown away with how beautiful it was, even though it rained the entire week! Luckily, I came to check out Whitehorse a year later in the summer before deciding to move up for good. I think the place that sold me on Whitehorse was the view overlooking Miles Canyon—the water was so clear and turquoise and the air was so fresh and clean!
What were you doing before coming to work with us?
I recently finished my psychology degree in Calgary, but after moving here, I started working in advertising sales. I quickly discovered how fascinating the psychology behind advertising and marketing is! I love discovering what drives people, what inspires people and how people communicate. Besides that, I have done some volunteer work with youth, organized events and helped renovate my house.
What's the best trait you bring to your work here at aasman?
My energy, motivation and drive to become better every day.
What are the best tunes to work with?
I like to throw on Songza and play some new and fresh Indie tunes.
Favourite kind of ball? (like basketball or rum balls or...?)
Probably a bouncy ball because it is kind of like me, always moving in a new direction, trying new things and has a hard time sitting still.
Preferred flavour of chip?
I prefer a hot, buttery bowl of popcorn over chips, but if I had to choose, I would say All Dressed.
What is a unique hobby you have?
I love baking, cooking and trying out new recipes. Oh, and eating them too :)
