Government of Yukon

Enterprise Trade Fund

The purpose of the Enterprise Trade Fund (ETF) is to stimulate Yukon business activity through market expansion and business development.

Who is eligible?

  • Yukon registered businesses;
  • Business-related organizations, either for-profit or not-for-profit.

How much funding is available?

Business applicants:

  • Up to 75% of eligible costs for marketing and business development activities to a maximum of $50,000.
  • Up to 50% of eligible costs for business plans and up to 75% of business skills training projects to a maximum of $10,000.

Media applicants:

  • 75% of eligible costs for marketing activities to a maximum of $50,000.
  • 75% of eligible costs for event attendance, web site or business skills development to a maximum of $10,000.
  • $2,000 per showcase (applicant must provide confirmation of selection under a competitive process).

Applications may be submitted at any time.

Community Development Fund

The Community Development Fund (CDF) provides funding for projects, events and initiatives that provide long-term, sustainable economic and social benefits to Yukon communities.

Who is eligible?

  • Registered non-profit societies.
  • Not-for-profit corporations incorporated under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act based in Yukon.
  • Charitable organizations.
  • Municipal and First Nations governments.
  • First Nation development corporations undertaking community-level initiatives.
  • New construction projects.
  • Renovations, restorations and other physical improvements to buildings or lands.
  • Knowledge or skill development.
  • Research and planning.
  • Programs and events.

Project and event criteria

  • Create economic benefits such as generating local spending, creating employment opportunities or building infrastructure.
  • Bring new money into Yukon from outside sources.
  • Develop skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Create social benefits such as strengthening social and community networks, building partnerships and facilitating community involvement.
  • Support the community’s long-term well-being.
  • Have measurable social, cultural and economic benefits for Yukon residents and communities.

Available funding

Funding is available for up to 90% of the total project or event costs:

  • Tier 1: $20,000 or less.
  • Tier 2: between $20,000 and $75,000.
  • Tier 3: over $75,000.

Application deadlines

4:30 p.m. on the day of the deadline. If this falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline moves to 4:30 p.m. on the next business day. 

  • Tier 1: January 15, May 15, July 15 and October 15.
  • Tier 2: April 15 and September 15.
  • Tier 3: January 15.

Environmental Awareness Fund

The Environmental Awareness Fund supports the efforts of groups and clubs to educate the public about Yukon’s natural environment, promote conservation and biodiversity, and encourage sustainable use of fish, wildlife and their habitat.

Who is eligible?

Registered non-government organizations.

How much funding is available?

$5,000 per project.

What can be funded?

Educational camps, brochures, surveys, video productions, public lectures, and similar kinds of activities.

Tourism Cooperative Marketing Fund

The Tourism Cooperative Marketing Fund (TCMF) is designed to help Yukon’s tourism industry attract visitation, gain international exposure and strengthen the territory’s tourism brand. 

Who is eligible?

This fund is available to market-ready and export-ready tourism businesses, Municipalities and Destination Marketing Organizations and First Nations Governments featuring tourism product.

What Marketing Projects are eligible?

  • Online advertising including web banners, social media sites and ad word purchases
  • Print advertising in magazines and travel guides with significant distribution/sales outside of the Territory
  • Promotion of Yukon events that include a package component of 2 or more tourism activities
  • Familiarization Tours –3rd party expenses related to your company hosting travel media or travel trade that brings attention to your tourism product

Trade and Consumer Show Program

For those looking for funding to participate in a trade or consumer show.

Application deadlines

Applications must be received before a trade or consumer show, sales call/mission, or bid presentation. It is recommended that operators apply at the beginning of the fiscal year (April 1) for all of the projects they will be undertaking in that fiscal year (to March 31).

Lotteries Yukon

The Yukon Lottery Commission is mandated to provide for community-based programming and funding assistance for arts, sport and recreation in Yukon. This funding assistance is provided by Lotteries Yukon through three programs: Projects Fund, Travel Assistance Program and the Community Lottery Program.

The financial support provided is intended to:

  • reduce barriers to participation in arts, sport and recreation across Yukon;
  • sustain and/or increase participation in arts, sport and recreation activities in Yukon;
  • enhance funding outcomes for arts, sport, and recreation through partnerships; and
  • help individuals develop their skills/abilities in arts, sport and/or recreation.

Projects Fund

Who is eligible?

Non-profits to access funding for arts, sport or recreation projects.

  • Opportunity Projects – ongoing intake for small projects that present a special, non-recurring opportunity;
  • Three Year Plan Recipients –projects that are recurring, low risk, high benefit were selected in January 2018 as Three Year Plan Recipients; and,
  • Strategic Partnerships – partnerships identified by the Yukon Lottery Commission that have demonstrated success in delivering arts, sport or recreation projects or programs across the Yukon.

Application deadlines

Regular Intakes in April and October for small, medium and large projects.

Available funding

Approximately $1.4 million will be allocated to the Projects Fund each fiscal year for 3 years starting in 2018/19.
